The former flamboyant all-rounder, Shahid Khan Afridi raised concern over the non-selection of left-handed batsman Fawad Alam in the Test squad against Australia.
Pakistan is to play Australia in the first Test from October 7-11 followed by the second Test scheduled from 16-20 October.
Afridi while talking to the media on Tuesday said that Fawad Alam is a perfect choice as a batsman in the middle order for Pakistan in Test format.
“Fawad Alam is a good Test batsman with some outstanding ability to score heavily for Pakistan,” he said.
Afridi also is surprised on the Test squad selected for the upcoming series against Australia where he thinks the batting middle order is weak.
“The Test squad really made me surprised,” he stated.
The 38-years-old said backed Sarfraz for captaining the Pakistani side till the World Cup 2019 which will take place in England.
“Sarfraz is a man with nerves of steel and can lead the side in a good way than any other,” Afridi said.
He, on the other hand, stressed the need to resolve the issue of bilateral series between India and Pakistan as soon as possible.
He also told that India should come true over their agreement they had signed with Pakistan over bilateral series.
“We all want to see India and Pakistan playing each other on regular basis and for that, PCB and BCCI have to play their roles,” he said.
