Pakistan Test team captain Azhar Ali called Fawad Alam a good player but hinted towards his ouster from the playing XI for the second Test against Sri Lanka, starting from December 19 at National Stadium Karachi (NSK).
Azhar, in a presser, when asked about Fawad’s inclusion in playing XI following his recent form at NSK, the captain said that he is a good player and part of their plan.
“Fawad is a good player. He is in-form and has scored plenty of runs at the domestic level. He is definitely a part of our plan and we will use him whenever needed,” he said.
The skipper added that the team is finalized and will be revealed tomorrow. Due to Usman Shinwari suffering from Typhoid and under treatment at a local hospital in Karachi, leg-spinner Yasir Shah is most likely to be a part of playing XI.
“We have planned things accordingly. The final XI is finalized and will be revealed tomorrow,” he said.
“Karachi’s Test is too important for us and we are really looking forward to making a mark this time around. Test in Rawalpindi washed out but it became past. Our focus is next test and we will try to make the most of our home conditions,” he maintained.
The right-handed batsman is concerned about his batting form but is optimistic to get back his lost knick. “I know my batting form is not too good. I am working hard on it and I hope to get things right for me soon,
“When you do not perform, people criticize. Necessary criticism is a part of the game and I always try to take it positively,” he concluded.
It must be noted here that the second and last Test of the two-match series will be played at NSK from December 19 to 23. This Test will mark Test cricket’s return to the metropolis after 10 years.
