Fawad Alam (78*) and Saad Ali (60*) rescued Sindh against Central Punjab (CP) on Day 2 of their fifth match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Sindh were reduced to 72-4 in reply of CP’s 313 when Fawad and Saad joined hands and took their team to 196-4 at stumps on day 2. Both the batsman have scored 124 runs and will resume the inning for Sindh on Day 3.
Young Naseem Shah, who has been named in Pakistan’s Test squad for Australia tour, bowled brilliantly and took three wickets to put his team on front foot.
Earlier, CP resumed their inning from 263-7 with Faheem Ashraf and Ehsan Adil. All-rounder Faheem scored worthy 52 runs for his team.
In another match, Sahibzada Farhan and Israrullah scored 150 runs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Baluchistan’s mammoth total of 553. Farhan remained not out for 72 while Irarullah made 71. Both the opening batsman will resume the play for KP on Day 3.
Baluchistan declared their inning for 553-8 with Imran Butt scoring unbeaten 214 runs. He smashed 18 boundaries and three sixes in his magnificent double-hundred knock.
Wicket-keeper batsman Bismillah Khan also remained dominant with 75 runs off 102 balls.
For Southern Punjab against Northern, Shan Masood (58) and Sami Aslam (42*) led the charge. Both the openers provided 98 runs opening stand to the SP in reply of 531. Sami along with Umer Siddique will resume the inning of SP from 102-1 and with a trail of 429 runs.
Earlier, Northern declared their inning for 531-6. Zeeshan Malik shined with 241 runs while Umer Amin made 156 runs. Faizan Riaz scored 83 runs of 109 balls to strengthen the total of his team.
