Messi’s Argentina were knocked out in the last 16 after a tough competition against the finalist France by 4-3. Argentina last tasted the world cup glory in 1986.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal loss to Uruguay by 2-1, got eliminated in the last 16 round. Portugal has never won a world cup trophy.

Spain the 2010 World Cup champions were knocked out after a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Russia.

Brazil the most successful national team in World Cup titles, who have won the World Cup five times got defeated to Belgium in the knockout stages. Belgium has never won the world cup title.

And the most unexpected and underrated team Croatia that has showcased a spectacular game last night against England, has finally qualified for their first ever World Cup final. Croatia claimed a 2-1 victory in extra-time of their World Cup semi-final and left England fans heartbroken.

On Sunday, a country of four million people will lock horns against hot favourite France for the World Cup title. However, both sides have extremely talented and extraordinary players so it’s hard to say who will be the new World Champions, “May the best team win”.
