First test: Steve Finn out with an injury

England fast bowler Steven Finn is out of the first test between Pakistan and England due to a stress injury to his left foot. The official England cricket twitter account tweeted moments ago

Steven Finn has been a regular part of the English bowling attack which regained the Ashes against Australia recently. With his height and pace he might have troubled the Pakistan batsman in UAE but considering the pitches there his effectiveness might have been questioned.

Steven Finn has played 26 test matches for England and has taken 102 wickets an average of 28.6. He has also taken five wickets in an an innings five times for England. He took 4/16 in the side match versus Pakistan A and was extremely impressive up front with the ball.

England captain Cook said regarding his injury (AFP)

It’s a bitter blow for him,” said England captain Alastair Cook. “He bowled really well in that warm-up game and over the last 12 months he’s made huge strides back to where we’d like him to be.

“We’ll monitor him and hope he could be right for the second Test. But we’ll have to wait and see.”
