After few days of Real Madrid winning their eleventh European Championship, the president of the club, Florentino Perez has called for a revamp in the league’s structure.
It was a thrilling final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid that was decided on the penalty shootout. It was the star striker, Cristiano Ronaldo that scored the last penalty to seal the victory for his club.
But, the president of the Spanish club believes that a revamp will benefit the league.
“I believe that the future is open to everything; to a true European competition, and that’s where we’re going to be,” Perez told Marca.
“It’s very difficult at present, but it’s a possibility in the future I’m sure.
“We have asked that UEFA change the format of the Champions League because I believe that the current version is rather worn out,” Parez added.
