International Cricket Council’s (ICC) security consultants on Monday visited National Stadium, Karachi to examine arrangements for Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
The consultants visited the ground, stands as well as the pavilion. Security was beefed up around the stadium during the tour. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) security in-charge gave a briefing to the ICC representative regarding the matches.
Pakistan was to host eight PSL 4 matches, five in Karachi and three in Lahore. Amid the political crisis between Pakistan and India, staging of matches in the country fell in jeopardy. But, on Sunday, Chairman PCB Mr Ehsan Mani announced that all eight matches will be played in Karachi due to logistical and operational challenges posed by the “delayed opening of Lahore airspace for commercial flights”.
