Former Chelsea and Arsenal forward Nicolas Anelka confirmed he will be visiting Pakistan to feature in exhibition matches in July, Leisure Leagues Pakistan announced Tuesday.

The Frenchman joined Brazil legend Ronaldinho Gaucho, former England goalkeeper David James and Dutch star George Boateng for the promotional events organised by the UK-based company.

Anelka, 38, has played club football in Europe’s top leagues and outside the continent in China and India, scoring a total of 157 goals in 508 appearances.

The attacker also boasts 69 appearances for France.

The former players are being brought to the country by Leisure Leagues — organisers of 5, 6 and 7-a-side tournaments which recently announced plans to expand to Pakistan.

Ishaq Shah, chief operating officer of Leisure Leagues Pakistan, earlier said the stars would play exhibition games alongside local players selected from Leisure Leagues in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
