Christchurch: The tall pacer Mohammad Irfan, who was considered to be the x-factor for Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup, is looking unable to deliver the goods and now there is news that the pacer is facing fitness problems.
Tipped to be the front-line pacer for Pakistan Down Under for it was thought that he would be unplayable using his 7’1″ height at the bouncy pitches, Irfan didn’t looked that lethal when the team faced India on Sunday.
Irfan bowled ten overs in the match but without any success and conceded 58 runs.
According to sources team management is facing tough decision whether to play Irfan in the match against West Indies or rest him and pray for him to recover fully.
“Irfan is not fully fit and the team management is concerned about whether to pick him in the crucial match against West Indies,” a source told arysports.tv.
Irfan has faced fitness problem since long as his height makes him prone to fitness issues.
“Team management is facing the dilemma whether to rest him and work on his fitness for matches to come or to take the chance and play him in the match tomorrow. I think it is a very important match and Pakistan must go with its full strength, especially considering the fact that we have already lost one,” the source added.
