Govt. withholds PHF’s Rs200m special grant due to poor performance in Champions trophy

Pakistan Hockey team’s back-to-back poor performances in Champions trophy put a big question mark on the entire federation including the coach and the team.

The caretaker government has decided to withhold Rs200 million special grant to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) which was approved by ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

While team is facing defeats in the international event, the federation is busy in spending national treasury. Secretary of PHF Shehbaz senior is spending vacations in foreign countries.

Pakistan hockey team is out of the race for medals in the Champions Trophy 2018 after its defeat against Belgium by 4-2.

Pakistan have won only against Argentina by 4-1, and have faced consecutive defeats against India, Australia and Netherlands.

However, Pakistan Sports Board has taken the notice against the series of poor shows by the national team.
