Pakistan’s batting coach Grant Flower has said that he was disappointed to see Waqar Younis leave the post of head coach because he feels that the former Pakistan fast bowler would have come in handy in the upcoming tour of England.
“It was unfortunate what happened. I feel sorry for the guy. I got to know him very well. I was quite surprised he didn’t carry on, because he had a great record as head coach in Tests and we are just going to play a four-match series against England.”, said the former Zimbabwe batsman in an interview with ESPNcricinfo.
The former Zimbabwe player admitted that the recommendations made by Waqar were quite sensible and he is happy to see that most of those have been implemented.
“What he said after [quitting] was very strong, but in his recommendations were great ideas. I see most of them are being implemented, which is good for Pakistan.”, said Flower.
The PCB organized Pakistan’s premier T20 league that is the Pakistan Super League and Grant Flower felt that this league will have a long lasting impact on Pakistan cricket and the international exposure will help Pakistan cricket in moving forward.
“Definitely. Dealing with other players in the world, mixing with international cricketers in the changing room, speaking with other good coaches will give great exposure.”, said Flower when asked about whether PSL will make a difference.”
