Southampton: Mohammad Hafeez has put himself into isolation after breaching bio-secure protocols, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

The 39-years-old cricketer landed into hot water after he posted a picture on Twitter with an old lady in a golf course where he went to play golf on Wednesday morning.

The golf course was adjacent to the team hotel and part of the bio-secure bubble but violating two-meter social distancing protocol put Hafeez in trouble as he was adviced to go into isolation for his and other players’ safety.

According to the PCB, the COVID-19 test of Hafeez was also taken late Wednesday afternoon and its result will come out tomorrow. He will remain in isolation until his test comes out negative.

“The decision to put Hafeez in isolation has been taken for his and, the safety and security of everyone around him. The team management believes it was an inadvertent mistake, but a good reminder for everyone on the importance of following the bio-secure protocols, which have been designed for the health and safety of everyone involved in the series,” PCB said.

“The team management has updated the England and Wales Cricket Board of its decision.”

It must be noted here that Hafeez is not amongst the 20 players shortlisted for the ongoing three-match Test series against England.
