Haris Rauf defended eight runs in last over to help Northern beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by three runs to qualify for the final of the National T20 Cup in Faisalabad.
Haris bagged three back-to-back wickets in last over which includes the crucial scalp of well-set Iftikhar Ahmed who scored 53 runs for KP but couldn’t finish it off well.
While batting first, Northern managed to get 148-9 in 20 overs after left-arm pacer Usman Shinwari bowled brilliantly taking five wickets. Umar Amin initially managed to survive against the aggressive Usman but got out of him in 13th over after scoring 43 runs.
Asif Ali scored 28 off 16 deliveries with the help of a boundary and two sixes. Apart from Usman, Imran Khan bagged two wickets.
In reply, KP’s Fakhar Zaman supported his team with Iftikhar after they lost their opener Sahibzada Farhan without scoring. They both scored 65 runs together to take KP’s score from 24-2 to 88 runs.
Fakhar scored 39 runs before getting out to Imad Wasim in 13th over. Iftikhar threw his wicket in the last over to hand a victory to the opponents.
From Norther, Haris finished with the figure of 3-26 while Sohail Tanvir took two wickets conceding 24 runs.
