Cape Town: South African captain Hashim Amla resigns from captaincy after the second test due his team’s overall poor performance.
Hashim Amla decided to step down after the second test played against England which ended in a draw. Hashim was appointed as captain after the former captain Graham Smith’s resignation last year, however his team failed to produce significant results under his captaincy.
It may be noted that Hashim Amla captained South Africa in 14 tests, winning only four, losing four and six ending in a draw. AB de Villiers will captain the side during the remainder of the series.
