Travis Head, Australia’s middle order batsman, has warned Pakistan that if his team is able to get a good start in the ODI series, then they can post some really scary totals on the board.
Pakistan have been vulnerable for some time in the 50-over format of the game and their direct qualification in the world cup is almost at stake in the upcoming ODI campaign against the mighty Aussies.
The Kangaroos have called their power hitters, which include the in-form Chris Lynn, for the ODI series. Pakistan have already lost the three-match Test series by 3-0, so their shoulders may already be dropped.
Head highlighted to ESPNCricinfo that batting side can destroy the opposition in the last 20 overs of a game and they did exactly that against New Zealand.
“I think it’s scary now what you can get in the last 20 overs of an ODI if you set a great platform, which is what we’ve done against New Zealand,” he told.
He mentioned his teammate, Chris Lynn’s hitting capability that he exhibited in the ongoing Big Bash League.
“We were able to set good platforms and give 25 overs to playing like T20. Yeah, it definitely brings in guys into it, a lot more than [before]. Lynny’s batting fantastic, yeah, he can clear the fence with ease, and so, if we build a good platform and if he’s in that middle order, it’s scary what we can get,” he added.
