Heartbroken off spinner Saeed Ajmal thinks of retiring, says “if I am not a part of the PCB plan I may be told so, I want to resign from International cricket with dignity and respect.”
According to details Saeed Ajmal after improving his bowling action returned to International cricket this year in April but was unable to show an impressive performance playing series against Bangladesh in the T20 and ODI matches. The Off spinner was advised to play English county cricket to improve his rhythm but couldn’t perform well, In 8 matches he took 16 wickets only at an average of 48.50 runs.
The selectors seem unsatisfied with such a performance and have hinted to observe his bowling at the National cricket academy. In an interview given to Indian news agency Saeed Ajmal said “I have always played on the basis of my performance and merit and if PCB thinks I cannot play any further, I will request them to let me know” this would enable me to retire from cricket in a dignified manner maintaining my self esteem.
There is no doubt PCB supported me during my crucial days but I want to clearly understand where do I stand today, he said I have never insisted on my selection in the National Team, if I can impress through my performance it would be Ok if not I won’t mind. I have always played cricket with dignity and wish to be given a fair opportunity to thank my fans while announcing my retirement.
He said if the authorities want to gauge me at the NCA, I am willing to do so. New bowling action while playing series against Bangladesh was under experimentation and by joining the domestic tournament I would like the selectors and people to decide how much vigour and vitality is left in my bowling.
