Jamaica: Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has highly praised Pakistan’s rising pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi for his superb progress in Test cricket.
The 53-year-old Bishop was impressed with the spell Shaheen bowled on Day two of the ongoing first West Indies-Pakistan Test at Sabina Park.
‘Shaheen bowled a superb spell and that is why I keep telling people: The guy is 21 years old. He is a diamond in the rough,” Bishop expressed during commentary.
Bishop opined that he didn’t know anything about Test cricket at this age.
“When I was 21, I knew nothing about Test match cricket. Absolutely nothing, even though I was playing the game. Sometimes, you can see something in someone even though at the moment they’re not the great player you want them to be,” he added.
It must be noted Shaheen was on a hat-trick after he removed Jermaine Blackwood and Kyle Mayers on consecutive balls.
Meanwhile, the hosts were 34 runs ahead at stumps on Day two with two wickets still remaining.
