Pakistan gave a disappointing start to their world cup campaign after losing 1-0 to Germany in their first match at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The men in green were off to a solid start defending some tough chances but later on, they lost grip giving away some easy scoring options.

Germany were also struggling in the start but a couple of missed chances from the other hand gave them immense confidence to bounce back in the match.

The scoreboard read 0-0 at halftime but just six minutes later to the start of third quarter Miltkau Marco made the most of an easy chance and convincingly put the ball into the net deceiving Pakistan’s goalkeeper completely.

Despite getting under pressure, Pakistan made a couple of efforts to score an equalizer but ended up without getting off the mark.

It is pertinent to mention here that the green shirts will now play Malaysia in their second match of the event on December 5.

In the second match of the day, Netherlands outclassed Malaysia by 7-1 to win their first match of the tournament.

Jeroen Hertzberger scored thrice for Netherlands while Mirco Pruijser, Mink van der Weerden, Robbert Kemperman, Thierry Brinkman scored one goal each.
