Humam, Hamza bags silver medal in US Junior Squash Championship

Pakistan’s promising young squash players Mohammad Hamza and Humam Ahmed bagged silver medals in US Junior Squash Championship at the Philips Academy, Boston.

Humam Ahmad lost to India’s Rohan A Gondhi 4-11, 12-10, 10-12, 12-10, 9-11 in the final of under-13 category, while American Carney Teddy outclassed Hamza Khan 11-7, 8-11, 6-11, 7-11  in the final of under-15 category.

Earlier in the semi-final of the tournament, Humam beat America’s Ahmed Haq in straight games 11-7, 11-6, and 11-9, low-seeded Hamza triumphed top seed Mexico’s Sosa Federico in straight games 11-5, 11-9 and 11-5.

Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has raised concerns over the refereeing standards in the tournament, on their official Twitter account they stated, “These players have protested against poor refereeing during the event and requested US Squash that the refereeing standard should be improved in future to save players from any further loss.”
