Veteran middle order batsman, Younis Khan has brushed off the statements regarding the change in his batting technique on the tour that has dented his performance.
After the two-day side match against Worcestershire, former Pakistani skipper said that he has not altered his batting style and it is the same as before.
Younis Khan said, “I have heard a lot in the media that my playing style has changed, but to me, I am playing like I always have,” he said. “I don’t know how can I change my batting style at this age?”
Younis Khan couldn’t perform in the first two test match, however, he scored a century in the side match against Somerset.
Pakistan suffered humiliating defeat against the hosts in the second test match of the series after winning the Lord’s test. However, the former skipper believes that the boys have the capability to bounce back in the series.
“We need to upgrade our performance and learn from our mistakes,” he said. “England made a good comeback in the second Test by focusing on their strengths, so we need to do that as well and believe in ourselves.”
Furthermore, Younis Khan is not pressurized due to the heavy expectations from him, instead, he is motivated to perform well.
“I know people expect me to put on a good show, and I want to do that too,” he said. “I want to forget the past and look forward, like I always have in my career. And I hope we can win this series.”
The test series between Pakistan and England is level at 1-1. The third match of the four-match test series will commence from August 3 in Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
