“I am sorry Ronaldo” says Bayern coach Guardiola

Bayern Munich’s coach Pep Guardiola was a satisfied man as his team came through a tough tie against Benfica to make their way to the semi final of this year’s UEFA Champions League.

Although Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo wanted his home club to qualify for the last four but that did not happen. Pep joked while talking to media, according to Mirror, after the match and said sorry for ruining what Ronaldo wanted.

“I know Cristiano Ronaldo would prefer Benfica in the next round,” he joked, “So I am sorry that he will not have the opportunity to play them.”

Pep was content on performance displayed by his team and he hoped that his side can carry the same sort of momentum till the final.

“At the end of the day, a coach must win titles and as many games as possible,” he said,

“And I have won many titles and many games.”

“Benfica pushed us very hard, even though they were missing some important players. We attacked better than in Munich and that was the difference.”

Pep faces an interesting dilemma of coming up against the team he will coach next season that is Manchester City. Although it will only become clear as to whether they will face the EPL side or not during the draws on Friday but if they do face to face it will be an absorbing contest.

“Everybody knows I will be at Manchester City next year and perhaps we will meet them in the next round, but we could meet any of the remaining teams and we are focused on the most important issue, which is getting to the final.
