Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) will now decide T20 World Cup 2020’s future in the next board meeting, scheduled on June 10.
The ICC board, on Thursday, met via teleconference to discuss the fate of upcoming mega event. After a long discussion, led by Chairman Shashank Manohar, the board decided to postpone any decision related to the event until June 10.
According to reports, smaller cricket boards, who get money from ICC events, opposed the decision to postpone the Twenty20 World Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also among those who opposed the option of postponing the extravaganza.
On the other hand, there are speculations that the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be staged in place of the T20 World Cup this year. IPL was postponed due to the prevailing COVID-19.
The Twenty20 mega event is scheduled for October-November this year.
