South Africa’s leg-spinner, Imran Tahir paid a tribute to late Junaid Jamshed in the second T20 by exposing a jersey he was wearing under his uniform while celebrating a wicket, which bore his image. ICC has reprimanded the Pakistan-born cricketer for his act.
The ICC has reprimanded the bowler for a procedural breach under section G1, which deals with:
“Players and team officials shall not be permitted to wear, display or otherwise convey messages through arm bands or other items affixed to clothing or equipment [“Personal Messages”] unless approved in advance by both the player or team official’s Board and the ICC Cricket Operations Department. Approval shall not be granted for messages which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes”.
Imran Tahir has admitted and accepted the offence he has committed.
