ICC’s anti-corruption officer interrogates fixing scandal in Karachi

Steve Richardson, an ICC anti-corruption officer, interrogated former cricketer Mansoor Akhtar in Karachi following the match-fixing allegations on him.

Richardson had an hour-long interrogation session with Akhtar, who had played 19 Tests and 41 ODIs, at National Stadium Karachi (NSK). The former cricketer was given a chance to give clarifications on the matter.

The ICC official will remain in Karachi for few more days and will meet some other Test cricketers as well to investigate the match-fixing scandal in depth.

It is pertinent to mention here that Test cricketer Umar Akmal claimed that Akhtar offered him match-fixing during last month’s Global T20 League in Canada.

This was not the first time Akmal came up with such allegations as earlier he revealed few match-fixing offers to him during ICC T20 World Cup 2012.
