Karachi Kings’ middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed is optimistic that his team Karachi Kings will find a place in playoffs in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“We have strong combinations within our team. We need to win upcoming matches which will make our position strong,” Iftikhar told the HBL PSL 2019 website.
He said that he focused on the team’s plan against Lahore Qalandars which they won by five wickets. “Captain (Imad Wasim) had told me if the left-handers come, I will have to bowl and I did well,” said Iftikhar.
The right-handed batsman called PSL a solid platform for players to showcase their skills and it changed the lives of many. “For me, there is only domestic and PSL where I can play and show my strength,” said Iftikhar who has played one Test, two ODIs and a single T20I for Pakistan.
The 33-years-old hopes that his performance will earn him a place in the national team which is a dream of every player. He was quick to add that his record in first-class cricket speaks itself. “My job is to perform well and I am among the three top scorers in Pakistan,” he said.
The hard-hitting batsman had scored 351 runs in the 2016-17 National One-Day Cup at an average of 58.50, while made 236 runs at an average of 59 in the 2017-18 One-Day Cup.
