Indian off spinner Ashwin is confident that he will feature in the upcoming test series against South Africa. He admitted that he was close to regaining full match fitness and was looking forward to bowling well against a well balanced and knitted side of the Proteas (quotes via ESPNcricinfo)
“I’m close to full fitness and I’m confident of bowling well in the Test series,”
Going back to the recently concluded ODI series and India’s loss, Ashwin said that as compared to South Africa the Indian side as relatively inexperienced. He also said that the last over of the first ODI in Kanpur was tough to digest and had that match gone India’s way the result of the series could have been different.
“Ours is a relatively inexperienced side. We have just a few players who have played 100-odd games. We need to give some cushion and time to this side. They have players like AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis who are very experienced players. We knew it was going to be hard-fought series. Had the last over in Kanpur gone our away, the result could have been different.”
The first test match between India and South Africa begins on the 5th of November at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali.
