Imam becomes the second fastest batsman to reach 1,000 ODI runs

Pakistan left-handed opening batsman, Imam Ul Haq became the second fastest batsman to reach 1,000 ODI runs, reaching the milestone in 19 innings.

Imam Ul Haq needed 95 runs to match his opening partner, Fakhar Zaman, as the fastest batsman to reach 1,000 ODI runs during the second ODI against South Africa, but, he managed to get only 5 runs in that game. Zaman had reached there inĀ 18 ODIs in 2017.

However, the specs-wearing batsman made a strong come back in the third ODI of the five-match series and went on to score his fifth ODI century with the help of eight boundaries to take his runs tally to 1,011 in 19 ODIs.

The 23-year-old is often criticised for being a product of nepotism as he is the nephew of Pakistan’s chief selector, Inzamam Ul Haq.

Though the young batsman maintains an impressive average of 60+ in the ODIs, his selection is still considered unjust, whereas, his statistics tell a totally different story.
