Imam gets maiden ODI call as PCB announces squad for SL series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Pakistan’s squad for the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka which is to be played from October 13 in the UAE.

Azhar Ali, Pakistan’s prominent performer with the bat in the Champions Trophy 2017, has been dropped from the squad due to an injury.

However, he is likely to play in the second Test against Sri Lanka that is scheduled to commence from October 6, with painkillers and will be treated after the Test series.

The young left-handed opening batsman, Imam Ul Haq who is the nephew of chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq, has got his maiden call from the selectors.

He averages 36 in List ‘A’ cricket and has got one century against his name. He has been a regular member of Pakistan’s U-19 and U-23 teams.

The left-arm pacer, Wahab Riaz has been left out of the squad, he was a part of the team in Champions Trophy but returned home after their first match against India due to an injury.
