One of the opening batsmen in Pakistan’s squad for the Asia Cup, Imam-ul-Haq wants to win the 14th edition of the tournament and dedicate it to the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
Imam, while talking to the media persons in Dubai during their practice session said that India is a strong opponent but their first target is to compete against Hong Kong to start the tournament on a winning note.
“You all are focusing on just the match against India, but we as a team are focusing equally on each game,” Imam stated.
He said that every single player in the team has been given a particular role by the team management keeping their strength in view, hence they all will try to fulfill it.
“The team management is fully active and working continuously to overcome weaknesses,” he added.
Imam further stated that he wants to enjoy his cricket and also to perform for his team.
“Cricket is my passion and I always enjoy being on the field,” Imam said.
The 22-year old, Imam revealed his aim to make his own mark and don’t want to live on his Uncle’s [Inzmam-ul-Haq] fame.
“I am focusing to do something significant that it can be coined as ‘unique’,” he said.
Pakistan team are just three days away from playing their first match on September 16 against the low-profile side Hong Kong.
