Imam’s half-century marks third win for Baluchistan in National T20 Cup


Imam-ul-Haq scored 52-ball 51 runs to help Baluchistan mark their third win of the National T20 Cup as they beat Southern Punjab by seven wickets on Thursday.

Cameos from Awais Zia, Haris Sohail, and Imran Butt also played an important role in Baluchistan’s victory.

Sent to bat first, Southern Punjab’s openers once again failed to deliver as they both walked back without scoring. Sohaib Maqsood lifted their inning by scoring 35 runs off 34 balls with the help of two boundaries.

Tail-ender Wahab Riaz scored quick 17-ball 31 runs laced with three boundaries and a six.

Akif Javed was the pick of the bowlers for Baluchistan as he took three wickets while conceding 16 runs. Mohammad Asghar bagged two wickets.

In reply, Baluchistan chased the target with three balls to spare and seven wickets in hand. Apart from Imam, skipper Haris Sohail scored 25 runs, Awais made 22 runs while Imran Butt contributed 28 runs.

Southern Punjab’s leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood finished with the figures of 2-28.
