The World Cup winning captain of Pakistan Imran Khan and ‘Sultan of Swing’ Wasim Akram has been named in ESPNcricinfo all-time World Cup XI.
Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to the first and only World Cup title till date in 1992, will lead the side and is one of the two all-rounders of the star-studded team.
Wasim Akram will lead the pace attack while Lance Klusener has been designated as an all-rounder. Glenn McGrath is another fast bowler while the spin department features Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne.
Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian cricketer who finds a place in the Playing XI in the released players list. Tendulkar will open the innings Adam Gilchrist. The latter will also be the wicket-keeper in the team.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting will bat at number three and will be followed by West Indies’ Viv Richards who famously starred in two World Cup finals: running-out three English batsman in 1975 and smashing a century four years later.
