RAWALPINDI: Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Rizwan partnered strongly to help Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) notch a seven-wicket victory over Southern Punjab (SP) in the fifth match of the National T20 Cup.
The right-handed duo scored 136 runs together to make 153 runs chase easier for the KPK who won the second consecutive match in the tournament.
Set to chase 153, KPK lost Fakhar Zaman earlier off Naseem Shah. But, Rizwan and Farhan didn’t look back and smashed bowlers all around the park. Farhan’s inning included six boundaries and four sixes whereas Rizwan smoked six boundaries and a six.
Naseem Shah bagged two while Faisal Akram took a wicket for SP.
Earlier, Mohammad Imran Randhawa displayed positive intent and scored fighting 54 runs before his team SP suffered a collapse and KPK bowled them out for 152.
In the fifth match of the National T20 Cup here at Pindi Stadium, SP were off to a shaky start after they lost three quick wickets despite openers Zeeshan Ashraf and Zain Abbas scoring 26 runs in 3.2 overs.
Zeeshan walked off after scoring 11, skipper Sohaib Maqsood failed to get off the mark whereas Zain (12) left his team suffering at 34-3.
Imran then did a rescue operation for SP as they came out of danger to score 104 runs in 14.1 overs. Imran struck 54 runs off 46 balls laced with seven boundaries and a six. Khushdil Shah made 24 whereas Hassan Khan contributed 24 including four boundaries.
Imran Khan Sr bagged four wickets, Shaheen Shah Afridi took three, Wasim Jr took two scalps whilst Asif Afridi managed one for KPK.
