Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt dedicated his Beach Wrestling Championship’s silver medal to his fans and country.
Butt showed his power in the event held in Brazil and clinched first two round convincingly against the wrestlers from Turkey and Azerbaijan respectively.
He beat his Brazilian counterpart in quarter-final while overcame Greece’s wrestler in the semi-final of the event. However, he couldn’t manage to take hold of his Georgian counterpart in the final clash.
Reflecting upon his achievement, Butt said that it is an honor for him to hoist the flag of Pakistan at international level.
“I dedicate this award to Pakistan and the people there. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish it off well but overall it was a memorable event for me,” he said.
After securing a silver medal, Butt has now become the first Pakistani wrestler to qualify for the World Beach Wrestling Championship. The mega event is scheduled in America.
“A big achievement for me is that I will be competing in World Beach Wrestling Championship in America,” the Commonwealth Games gold medalist said.
