Commonwealth gold medalist Muhammad Inam Butt will be representing Pakistan in Asian Wrestling Championships, which is going to be held in Xian, China from April 24-28.
Pakistan Wrestling Federation secretary Arshad Sattar said, “Inam, who will be accompanied by national coach Sohail Rasheed is the only wrestler from the country who will feature in the event. He will compete in the 92kg weight category.”
He further added participation in any weight category in Asian Championship was mandatory as the countries missing the continental event are not allowed to send their outfits for the World Wrestling Championships.
“Our focus is on the World Championships where besides Inam Butt we will send three more wrestlers including Muhammad Bilal (57kg), Inayatullah (65kg),) and Haroon Abid (125kg).”
The winner at the World Wrestling Championships can earn a quota spot for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
