As Australia is looking to promote day/night test matches, India has also stepped up to hold a pink ball test against New Zealand later this year.
New Zealand has the experience to play with the pink ball as they played the first ever day/night test match against Australia in Adelaide last year in November.
Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India told media that they are looking to play a day/night test match against Kiwis
Thakur said, “We have decided that we will play one day/night Test match with pink ball against New Zealand later this year,”
India is to conduct a test match of this nature in their domestic, Duleep Tournament, which will be a rehearsal for them.
He stated, “Before that Duleep Trophy will act as a rehearsal for the day/night Test match”. India will try to see the behavior of pink Kookaburra that how it plays under the light, specifically in sub-continent conditions.
Thakur did not utter a word on the venue that will host this match against New Zealand as India is currently weighing different conditions on which the decision will depend. Factors such as dew, how spinners bowl with the pink ball and other similar things will be taken into account.
Pakistan will play their first day/night test against Australia at Gabba, Brisbane from 15th to 19th December.
