Pakistan missed a chance to qualify for the final of the SAFF championship as they lost to India 3-1 at Dhaka stadium on Wednesday.
After showing top-class performance at group stage defeating Nepal and Bhutan, Pakistan suffered against arch-rivals due to weak striking ability.
With no goal scored in the first half, India bounced back strongly scoring on the 48th minute.
Manvir Singh with his decisive hit brings the lead for the men in blue.
Pakistan tried hard to score an equalizer but it was Manvir once again who netted the ball on the 69th minute.
Sumeet Passi scored for the third time for India on the 84th minute to further strengthen the lead.
Mohammad Ali was the lone goal scorer for Pakistan, who scored a late goal in 88th minute.
India with this win set their clash with the Maldives in the final of the tournament.
The National team’s head coach, José Antonio Nogueira called their defeat as lack of striking abilities.
He said that the team was a little bit lazy on converting the easy chances and a couple of missed scoring options cost them hugely.
“It was a disappointing performance by the boys as they failed to continue the winning streak,” Jose said.
Jose added that the team needs some time to get back on the track and they are working hard to change the things.
“We are focusing to overcome our weaknesses hopefully in future the team will come strongly,” he said.
