Auckland: Defending champions India overcame a mini-scare to defeat Zimbabwe by six wickets at Eden Park on Saturday, their sixth win in six games secured by a fifth-wicket partnership of 196 between Suresh Raina and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Raina, dropped on 48 by Hamilton Masakadza, finished on 110 not out and Dhoni was unbeaten on 85 as Pool B winners India, already assured of their quarter-final slot, recovered from 92-4 to cruise to victory.
Earlier, Zimbabwe skipper Brendan Taylor smashed five sixes and 15 boundaries during a 110-ball 138 in a flamboyant farewell to his international career.
India will play Bangladesh in the quarter-finals on March 19 while Zimbabwe were already out of the tournament with only one win. AFP
