India humiliated Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup semi-final as they booked opponent’s batting line for just 69 runs while defending 273, registering an emphatic win by 203.
India U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. India had a strong start with an opening partnership of 89 runs between Prithvi Shaw and Manoj Kalra. But, India suffered a batting collapse as they lost half of their side for 166 runs.
Shubman Gill kept fighting for his team and scored an unbeaten century while he kept losing wickets from the other end. His heroics with the bat took India to a respectable total of 272/9.
Apart from Gill’s magnificent century, Kalra and Shaw were the second and third highest run-getter in the inning with 47 and 41 respectively.
Muhammad Musa remained the pick of the bowler for Pakistan as he picked four wickets for 67, whereas Arshad Iqbal picked three wickets for 51 runs. While Shaheen Shah Afridi got one.
When Pakistan came out to chase they seem nowhere against India’s quality bowling attack. Though Pakistan did not give away any wicket to the find of U-19 World Cup, Shivam Mavi, but were vulnerable against Ishan Porel, who took four wickets.
Only three Pakistani batsmen, Rohail Nazir, Saad Khan and Muhammad Musa could manage to score in double figures with 18, 15 and 11 runs respectively.
Shiva Singh and Riyan Parag took two wickets each, whereas, Anukul Roy and Abhishek Sharma struck once.
India and Australia will meet in the final of the U-19 World Cup on February 3rd at Mount Maunganui.
