Karachi: India is all set to play their first-ever away pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval as Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the potential dates of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Gabba, Brisbane will host the first Test match against India whereas Australia will begin their Test summer with an inaugural Test against Afghanistan in Perth.
The Afghanistan Test will take place from 21-25 November and will be a day/night match. The first of the four Tests against India will begin on December 3rd in Brisbane. The second Test will be a day/night encounter at the Adelaide Oval (11-15 December).
The third and Boxing Day Test will begin on December 26th at the MCG, Melbourne whereas fourth, the New Year Year Test will begin on January 3rd, 2021 at SCG, Sydney.
Australia was keen to play their first Test at the Gabba, where Australia have not lost a Test in over 30 years.
“We can’t wait to come to the Gabba, knowing that Australian sides play well and win a lot of Test matches here,” Australia’s Test skipper Tim Paine said.
Australia’s spearhead pacer Mitchell Starc also put weight on the pink-ball Test and said.”I think absolutely a pink-ball Test in this series against India is a great thing. The fans love it, it creates a different aspect of the contest. I think bat and ball are a lot closer together.”
It must be noted that India declined the offer of a pink ball test in 2018/19. India also won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the last tour of Australia.
