PERTH: India trounced United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine wickets in their World Cup match here on Saturday, ARY Sports reports.
UAE captain Mohammad Tauqir won the toss and chose to bat first.
Batting first, UAE was all out on 102 runs in 31.3 overs with only three of its batsmen scoring in double figures.
Shaiman Anwar made 35 runs from 49 balls whereas Khurram Khan scored 14 runs from 28 balls. Manjula Guruge contributed 10 runs with the bat.
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets whereas Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav grabbed two wickets each.
Pacers Bhuvenshwar Kumar and Mohit Sharma also dismissed one batsman each.
India chased the target in 18.5 overs with nine wickets to spare.
Rohit Sharma scored 57 runs from 55 balls whereas Virat Kohli made 33 runs from 41 balls. Shikhar Dhawan scored 14 runs from 17 balls.
Mohammad Naveed took the only wicket for the UAE side.
Ashwin was named Man of the Man for his four wicket haul.
