New Delhi: India will be hosting two junior International Tennis Federation ( ITF) events allotted to Pakistan, according to Indian Tennis Federation both the tournaments were to be played in Pakistan but were shifted to New Delhi upon Pakistan’s request which was approved.
While speaking to the media, Indian Tennis Federation executive member Hironmoy Chatterjee said there would be two major Junior International events taking place this year in India during July or August. Both these events were allotted to Pakistan by the International Tennis Federation but since people find it unsafe to travel to Pakistan, so we have unanimously accepted Pakistan’s request to hold both the events in our country this would not only help Pakistani players but would also help develop cordial relations between both the countries.
Chatterjee said young Pakistani players will be participating in this tournament and we can see lot of upcoming tennis talent in Pakistan, we are hopeful they would benefit a lot by participating in the tournaments. We will try our best to provide Pakistani players a conducive environment in New Delhi to consolidate friendly relationship between both the countries.
