Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin believes that India will not face much threat from Pakistan since the defending champions has a better side.
India maintains a perfect record against Pakistan in World Cups winning all five matches the two teams previously met in during the pinnacle cricket event. Azharuddin had been Indian skipper in three of them!
“The fact that we have never lost to Pakistan will give us psychological advantage. Moreover, we have strong side and if our players play up to the mark than I don’t consider Pakistan would be a difficult side to overpower,” Azharuddin was quoted as saying by Indian media.
However, Azharuddin added that the tournament would take a different course after India’s first match and thing would get difficult for the defending champions.
Former Pakistan skipper Asif Iqbal also believes that Asian sides would find it difficult to qualify for semifinals.
