An strangely slow innings from India’s MS Dhoni against England on Sunday have landed him in hot water as fans and experts are angry and sarcastic.

India required 71 runs in the last five overs with five wickets in hand. When the wicket-keeper batsman came to the crease, the run-rate was at almost 11 but it quickly rose to 15 as he appeared content to pick up singles.

The Indian fans expressed their anger on Twitter by trolling the 37-year-old batsman for his brainless inning.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, came into Dhoni’s defence and said that the wicket got slower towards the end of the game that made hitting big shots difficult.

“I think MS was trying really hard to get the boundary but it wasn’t coming off. They bowled in good areas and the ball was stopping, hence it was difficult to bat towards the end,” said Kohli.

With this defeat India have lost their unbeaten tag in this World Cup and reduced Pakistan’s chances to qualify in the semi-final.
