International Squash Championship kicks off tomorrow in Karachi


Karachi: The Chief of the Naval Staff International Squash Championship is all set to glow grand stage in Karachi from tomorrow, ARY News reported on Monday.

As many as 15 players from Pakistan and players from Malaysia, France, Egypt, and Hong Kong are taking part in the event which concludes on February 8 with a grand closing ceremony.

A prize purse of $20,000 has been set-up which will be distributed among the winners. Foreign players have already reached Karachi.

While talking to ARY News exclusively,¬†Fabien Versailles France expressed an exceptional feeling of being in Pakistan. “I am really excited to be a part of this event especially in Pakistan as squash has a huge history from here,” he said.

Moustafa Elsirty of Egypt is looking forward to competing strongly in the mega event. “I have been preparing for this event for the last three weeks. This will surely a competitive tournament, however, my focus is to prove my mettle,”¬†Elsirty maintained.

Henry Leung of Hong Kong is confident that his team would make it high in the tournament. “We are here with full preparations. I expect a high-octane tournament ahead,” he said.
