Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq thinks that Pakistan’s lower-order problem might come to an end after the inclusion of Danish Aziz, Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah in the side.
While previewing the Pakistan-South Africa T20I series on Pakistan Cricket Board’s Youtube channel, the former chief selector stated that the national team was lacking in this department despite being the number one in T20I rankings.
“Our slot was quite weak and we didn’t have those hitters in the past who can hit in the middle-overs when we were also ranked No.1,” Inzamam said.
“The selectors have tried to bring back Asif Ali and have inducted Danish Aziz, who can hit boundaries while batting at the fifth and sixth spot, having the ability to finish the match. While Khushdil is also a similar kind of player and is with the team in last four to five series,” he added.
Batting legend also praised the inclusion of spinners in the side. “Zahid Mehmood has earned his maiden call-up, Zafar Gohar, Mohammad Nawaz have come again while Usman Qadir is also there. We can also call some of them as half-allrounders,” he added.
Note, Pakistan and South Africa will lock horns in the three-match T20I series from today at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
