IPL 2020 postponed indefinitely as India extends lockdown

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been indefinitely postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic, however, BCCI is yet to make an official announcement.

The further delay of the tournament, which draws top players from around the world, was certain to happen after the Indian government extended a three-week lockdown until at least May 3.

IPL was already pushed back from its original start date of March 29 to April 15. According to Indian news agency BCCI has informed all the eight franchises about the postponement.

It must be noted that several big events have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Wimbledon has been canceled, while the French Open has been postponed till later in the year.
