Pakistan sustained another embarrassing defeat in the four-nation International Festival of Hockey at Melbourne’s State Netball and Hockey Centre as they lost to Japan by 3-1.
The lower-ranked Japan ruled the Men in Green with their agility in the hockey field and struck three goals in 14th, 46th and 50th minutes by Kenty Tanaka and Genki Matani respectively.
On the other hand, Atiq Arshad was the only goal-scorer for Pakistan, who netted the ball in the 60th minute of the game.
Before conceding a defeat by Japan Thursday, Australian humiliated Pakistan on Wednesday when they scored nine goals against the former World Champions and conceded only one goal. It was Pakistan’s worst defeat in hockey.
Shaheens have to face New Zealand now on Saturday. Kiwis have been defeated by the Aussies in the tournament by 4-1.
