Japan wins 1-0 against Pakistan in Asian Games hockey semi-final


Pakistan Hockey team ended its Asian games’ journey after losing to Japan 1-0 in the Semi-final of the Asian Games hockey on Thursday.

Unbeaten men in green at group stage, failed to impress the fans giving up against Japan who dominated throughout the whole time.

Pakistan who scored 45 goals in total during their group stage matches, remained goal-less in must win clash against Japan.

Pakistan’s strikers seemed helpless against Japan’s strong defence and also missed a couple of goal scoring opportunities that taken them down miserably.

Japan struck their only goal on 18th minute.

On the other hand, India also lost to Malaysia by 7-6 on penalty shoot-out.

In this way, Pakistan will now face arch-rivals India in the Bronze medal contest on September 1.

Meanwhile Japan and Malaysia will fight in the final of Asian Games Hockey for lifting the coveted title.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan with this defeat also lost the chance to qualify directly to the Tokyo Olympic 2020.
