Javeria, Anam drive PCB Blasters to second win on the trot

Anam Amin bagged three wickets for 14 runs in four overs to help PCB Blasters restrict PCB Challengers to 142-9 and win their second match in a row by 12 runs in the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Friday.

The slow left-arm orthodox bowled brilliantly and got the support of skipper Ramin Shamim (2-23) and Tooba Hassan (2-27) to dominate on day two of the event.

Earlier, while batting first, Javeria Rauf scored 57 runs off 40 balls to put PCB Blasters in the driving seat as they posted 154-6 on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Javeria struck eight fours and a six.

“The pitch was good to bat on. My target was to stay till the end to keep the scoreboard ticking. The target was good and our bowlers bowled with great line and length to bowl them out before the target,” Javeria said in a post-match conference.

Opener Ayesha Naseem contributed 31 runs off 20 balls and her 62 runs partnership with Javeria boosted the confidence of the girls in pink. Aliya Riaz played a handy knock down the order as she scored 29 off 27 balls. Her inning included four boundaries.

Aliya and Javeria scored 52 runs together for the winning side. Right-arm medium pacer Fatima Sana bagged two wickets for PCB Challengers.

In reply, Bismah Maroof led Challengers, fell short to the target. Muneeba Ali was the highest scorer for them with 50 runs off 36 balls laced with three fours and as many sixes. Hafsa Khalid made 24.

Javeria and Anam of Blasters shared the man-of-the-match award of PKR 10,000.
