Pakistan women’s team senior member Javeria Khan admits she has not performed up to her standards in her career for Pakistan as she is inching towards her 100th T20I for the green shirts.
In a presser at National Stadium Karachi, Javeria shared that she is not happy with her performances and wants to be more consistent for Pakistan.
“I have achieved less according to my standard. My aim is to score more fifties, adding vital contributions and remain consistent for the team,” She said.
“I haven’t given so much to Pakistan as this country has given so much to me. I have to perform more and give vital victories for the nation,” She added.
Javeria feels she is not burdened by her role however she tries to perform according to the role she has been given by the coach and the captain.
“I try to perform my role given by the captain and coach. They have given me the freedom to express myself in first six overs and I don’t feel burdened as our top seven batsmen can bat, I just back myself to perform better,”
She is satisfied that the women cricket is growing but also emphasized that they have to work on the area of hitting sixes.
“Our cricket is growing and the amount of T20 cricket is being played, we have to improve the area of hitting sixes in order to compete with big teams. In this National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship, the bowling is not of high standards so the six ratio is high,” She added.
She concluded that the National women’s team priority is to win every match in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia and the series against West Indies will help them to prepare well.
